Tarves Football Club

Formed in the 1930s by a group of local players, Tarves FC has for many years played in leagues involving teams based in the surrounding area.

In 1975 the club was admitted to the Aberdeenshire Amateur Football Association, joining league division 6, and over the next few years promotion was gained with the highlight being the 'double-winning' season 1990/91 when the club won the 3rd division championship and the Hans Fyfe Trophy.

In 1984 following a generous bequest from a local benefactor, Doddie Greig, modern changing facilities were built adjacent to the pitch at Hillhead Park, Tree Road, Tarves and this is the centre for activities on match days and training evenings.

The club has retained the original desire to foster the sport of football within the village and is always willing to hear from local people who may wish to become involved with their local amateur team.

Although a non-profit organisation, Tarves FC does require to generate funds to cover running costs. Assistance is given by a number of local businesses through sponsorship. The firms include The Globe Inn, Offshore Crane Engineering and the Richard Irvin Group.

A number of fund-raising events are held each year, and a weekly football forecast competition is held during the season.
