A wide range of businesses and business services are represented in the area ranging from traditional skills to modern high technology.
Established retail and trades business ensure that Tarves is self-sufficient and able to meet all basic needs, and a more sophisticated range of services and supplies are available from nearby larger centres of population such as Inverurie and Ellon.
The Community Council are campaigning to build on the present business base.
An area of land at the west end of Tarves has been designated for industry and authorities are now being urged to press ahead with it and supply basic infrastructure so that any interested business can be encouraged to develop. At the same time the Community Council are pressing for low-cost advance workshop and office units to be established for rental.
The campaign has received backing from the Formartine Partnership and Local Aberdeenshire Councillors. Scottish Enterprise Grampian and Enterprise North East Trust have also been called on to give their support and show their backing for new business development in the rural areas.
The Community Council have also called for farmers to consider the opportunity of offering redundant farm buildings for rent to businesses and start-up companies.
