Phil Cunningham and Aly Bain ended a superb gig in style at Meldrum Academy for the 6th Year in the Schools 10 year history.
A standing ovation from crowd in the sell out concert followed a great performance with many favourite tunes from Shetland, Scotland Ireland and Sweden. Tarves award winning fiddlers and opening act, George and Stuart Davidson (both students at the Academy), joined the Aly and Phil on stage for a closing set. The four received huge applause from an enthusiastic audience.
The organisers of the Concert were the School’s Parent Council. The event was well staffed with volunteers and pupils for half time refreshments and all raffles tickets were sold out. The event looks on target as a record fund raising event for the Academy.
Meldrum Academy is celebrating 10 years since its opening. A special whisky to with a label designed by Meldrum Academy student, Rosie Rees, also from Tarves, was on sale to mark the occasion.
