Community Engagement Events

The next phase of Formartine Community Engagement events takes place in January following the successful implementation of these events in early 2019. For this phase we have teamed up with Aberdeenshire Health and Social Care Partnership so the events will have representatives from far more services. Local Policing Inspector Andy Scott said: “These are partner focussed events offering face to face contact with our communities to identify areas of concerns and issues. Whilst it is widely acknowledged there is already accessible means in which the public can contact each agency, many often do not want to attend Police Stations, Council Offices etc. and are not comfortable utilising social media platforms. It is often these individuals who form the majority of our most vulnerable citizens and as such the Community Surgeries will continue to encourage them to come along and address the most relevant agency with their concerns.” The dates of the surgeries are as follows; 31st January 2020 1000hrs – 1200hrs – Balmedie Library 1330hrs – 1530hrs – Pitmedden Hall The event will be attended by the following partners; . Police Scotland . Scottish Fire and Rescue Service . NHS . Aberdeenshire Council Area Office . Aberdeenshire Health and Social Care Partnership . Elected Members . Aberdeenshire Alcohol and Drug Partnership . Aberdeenshire Council Roads . Aberdeenshire Council Housing . Aberdeenshire Council Passenger Transport Unit . Aberdeenshire Voluntary Action . Citizens Advice Bureau . Formartine Community Councils

There are just a few days left to respond to Aberdeenshire Council’s transport survey.  The Council is doing a ‘clean sheet’ consultation about services and what is required by Aberdeenshire’s citizens.

Please click on the link below to the Aberdeenshire Council Transport survey. The closing  date is next Monday 9th December 2019. So people still have time to give their valuable view on the future of Bus Services in Aberdeenshire.

Scams 04/12/2019 11:20:24 [298884]

From: []
Sent: 04 December 2019 11:20 To: Subject: Scams 04/12/2019 11:20:24 [298884]

The following scam has been reported to Police Scotland within the Borders area but relevant to everyone.
On Thursday 28th November an email was received purporting to be from BT – titled “Brexit Terms of Service” with the following text – “Brexit draws closer and your terms of service must be updated. Here’s what’s changing. When the United Kingdom leaves the European Union we also leave the EU’s General Data Protection Regulations. This means your contract terms must be updated to comply with our services. This requires our customers to agree to our new terms of service. To do this please follow the link. Now here’s the good news! Your monthly bill remains unchanged. This includes all of your BT subscripted products”
Phishing is a scam where criminals typically send emails to thousands of people. These emails pretend to come from banks, credit card companies, online shops and auction sites as well as other trusted organisations. They usually try to trick you into going to the site, for example to update your password to avoid your account being suspended. The embedded link in the email itself goes to a website that looks exactly like the real thing but is actually a fake designed to trick victims into entering personal information.
Please be extremely wary of emails claiming to be from organisations such as BT, HMRC or your bank. NEVER CLICK ON LINKS in unsolicited email contact like this. Delete the email. You may wish to contact the organisation via the method you would normally use, NOT via any number /email in the message.
